['ʃvɑ-], František, slowakischer Schriftsteller, * Bystrá (heute Mýto pod Ďumbierom, Mittelslowakisches Gebiet) 29. 1. 1912, ✝ Prag 13. 10. 1950; Vertreter der lyrischen Prosa; nutzte in der Novelle »Malka« (1942; deutsch) sowie im Roman »Nevesta hôl'« (1946; verfilmt) die Fantastik der slowakischen Volksdichtung, um das Verhältnis von Mensch und Natur expressiv zu gestalten. Existenziellen Grenzsituationen des Krieges wandte er sich in den Novellen »Dáma«, »Kňaz« und »Sedlák« (entstanden 1948/49; alle deutsch in »Die Dame und andere Erzählungen«) zu. Im Roman »Život bez konca« (postum 1956) zeichnet er ein kritisches Bild der slowakischen Gesellschaft um die Jahrhundertwende.
